Three masked men abducted the chief of a retransmission station of the Myanmar Radio and Television (MRTV) in Muse, northeastern Shan state, official media reported Tuesday.

The chief was taken away by the three masked men from his house in Muse's Monekoe area in the weekend.

Local authorities are probing into the case, the report said. (Myanmar-Abduction)

SYDNEY -- Chinese investors have bought a tropical island resort off the east coast of northern Australia for 30 million U.S. dollars, local media reported on Tuesday.

TOKYO -- Japan's Meteorological Agency (JMA) has lifted a tsunami warning it issued after a strong 6.9-magnitude earthquake hit off northeastern Japan on Tuesday.

The quake, which occurred at 8:06 a.m. local time (2306 GMT Monday), was centered 210 km in the Pacific Ocean east of Miyagi Prefecture, with a depth of around 10 km. (Japan-Tsunami Warning- Lifting)

SEOUL -- South Korean President Park Geun-hye named four new ministers, including the unification minister in charge of inter- Korean affairs, on Tuesday after former ruling Saenuri Party floor leader Lee Wan-koo took office as the new prime minister.
