Xinhua, February 16, 2015 Adjust font size:

The Czech Republic sent on Monday 40 tonnes of humanitarian aid, including medical supplies, sleeping bags, blankets and roofing, to Ukraine.

Four lorries, a trailer, an ambulance and accompanying vehicles left the National Humanitarian Aid Base in Zbiroh in the Czech Republic on Monday morning, and were expected to arrive in Kiev on Tuesday evening.

Czech Prime Minister Bohuslav Sobotka and Foreign Minister Lubomir Zaoralek watched the departure of the convoy on Monday morning.

Since 2014, the Czech Republic has provided various forms of humanitarian assistance to Ukraine worth of 100 million crowns (about 4.1 million U.S. dollars).

The assistance included direct material aid, medical care, stays of Ukrainian children in Czech Republic and others. Zaoralek said Czech government will discuss the release of more money depending on the Ukrainian inhabitants' specific needs.

Sobotka has said he appreciated the ceasefire that started in Ukraine on Sunday, adding that to maintain the ceasefire will not be easy. (1 U. S. dollar = 24.285 crowns) Enditem
