Tajik man arrested for possessing 8 kg of heroin

Xinhua, February 16, 2015 Adjust font size:

A 36-year-old unemployed man was arrested on Saturday for possessing 8 kilograms of heroin hidden in a computer processor in Tajikistan's northern city of Isfara.

Officers of the Sughd's Drug Control Agency (DCA) carrying out an anti-drug operation captured the suspect, who was carrying a bag in which the computer processor was filled with eight packages of heroin, Tajikistan's Interior Ministry said Monday.

Preliminary investigation established that the seized drug belonged to a law enforcement officer named Furkat, who planned to transport heroin outside the country. He used unemployed young people and promised to pay them for sale of drugs.

Criminal proceedings have been instituted and an investigation is under way.

It was the second case in which a government law enforcement officer was involved in drug trafficking since the beginning of the year. Endi
