Iranian Foreign Ministry welcomed the recent truce deal between the Ukrainian military and pro-Russian militants to end clashes in the east of Ukraine, Tasnim news agency reported on Sunday.

The Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Marzieh Afkham expressed the hope that the implementation of peace deal would be a step forward "to settle the current conflict in eastern Ukraine."

The spokeswoman also express the hope that the deal "would result in full cessation of hostilities and termination of the killing of innocent people."

A ceasefire in Ukraine between the two sides went into effect early on Sunday after the peace agreement signed recently in Minsk, Belarus. Endit
