Seoul shares ended higher on Friday.

The benchmark Korea Composite Stock Price Index (KOSPI) rose 15. 87 points, or 0.82 percent, to 1,957.50 at the close. Trading volume stood at 342.8 million shares worth 4.01 trillion won (3.65 billion U.S. dollars).

SYDNEY -- The Australian share market rose 2.3 percent at the close of Friday, reaching a six-and-a-half year high.

At the official market close, the benchmark S&P/ASX200 index was up 133.9 points, or 2.33 percent, at 5,877.5 while the broader All Ordinaries index added 127.8 points, or 2.24 percent, to 5,835. 5.

TOKYO -- Tokyo stocks ended 0.37 percent lower Friday as a stronger yen weighed on exporters.

The 225-issue benchmark ended down 66.36 points from Thursday at 17,913.36.

TAIPEI -- Taiwan's share prices closed higher Friday with the weighted index up 33.20 points, or 0.34 percent, to close at 9,529. 51, according to news reaching here from Taipei.

Turnover totaled 76.13 billion new Taiwan dollars (about 2.42 billion U.S. dollars).

HONG KONG -- Hong Kong stocks rose 260.39 points, or 1.07 percent, to close on Friday at 24,682.54 points.

The benchmark Hang Seng Index traded between 24,702.54 and 24, 521.13. Turnover totaled 71.70 billion HK dollars (9.25 billion U. S. dollars).

HO CHI MINH CITY -- VN-Index, the stock market index of Ho Chi Minh (HCM) City bourse in south Vietnam, closed at 587.24 points on Friday, up 2.57 points or 0.44 percent against the previous trading day's closing session.

About 73.837 million shares worth 1.210 trillion Vietnamese dong (VND) (56.42 million U.S. dollars) changed hands at the southern HCM City Stock Exchange. Prices of 145 stocks went up, 62 stocks fell down, while 74 stocks remained unchanged.

HANOI -- Stock market index of Vietnam's capital Hanoi, HNX- Index, closed at 85.26 points on Friday, up 0.55 points, or 0.65 percent, against the previous trading session.

A total of over 32.155 million shares worth some 403.289 billion Vietnamese dong (18.89 million U.S. dollars) were traded at the Hanoi Stock Exchange on Friday, a decrease of 10.49 percent in volume and 14.44 percent in value against the previous trading session.

MANILA -- Philippine shares closed 0.76 percent higher on Friday.

The benchmark Philippine Stock Exchange index increased by 58. 86 points to 7773.45. The all-share index went up by 28.86 points, or 0.64 percent, to 4506.00.

KUALA LUMPUR -- The Malaysian stock market ended higher here on Friday.

The Kuala Lumpur Composite Index (KLCI) was at 1,800.95, up 11. 88 points or 0.66 percent, and the Emas was at 12,428.34, up 81.12 points or 0.65 percent.

JAKARTA -- Indonesian shares closed higher by 30.75 points, or 0.58 percent, to a level of 5,374.17 on Friday.

Some 185,583 transactions were booked, involving 5.00 billion shares worth 6.28 trillion rupiah (about 491.82 million U.S. dollars).

SINGAPORE -- Singapore stocks finished higher on Friday, with the benchmark Straits Times Index (STI) up 7.05 points or 0.21 percent to close at 3,426.22.

A total of 1.03 billion shares changed hands with turnover of 1. 21 billion Singapore dollars (896 million U.S. dollars).

BANGKOK -- The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) index Friday moved up 2.49 points, or 0.15 percent to close at 1,615.89 points.

Some 11.98 billion shares worth 53.66 billion baht (about 1.65 billion U.S. dollars) changed hands.

MUMBAI --Indian stocks closed higher on Friday.

The S&P BSE Sensex extended its pull-back rally for the third consecutive session on hopes of a reformist budget this month. Some stability in global markets is also providing support to the indices.

BEIJING -- The Shenzhen Component Index on the Shenzhen Stock Exchange closed at 11,443.05 points Friday, up 1.24 percent.

A Share Index: 13,267.74 points, up 1.24 percent.
