Indonesia sticking on tough anti-drug policy: official

The Indonesian government remains sticking on its stance that it will impose stern actions against the violation on drug use and is ready to take the risks of the policy, Secretary of Cabinet Andi Widjajanto said here on Friday.

The official made the remarks following the public warning from Australia to possibly avoid visiting Indonesia during holiday and find other alternative destinations if Indonesia executes two Australian citizens, Andrew Chan and Myuran Sukumaran, who are on death row on drug cases.

"Yes," Widjajanto said, "all the decisions must have risks."

The official reaffirmed that President Joko Widodo had decided to take stern action on drug cases.

Both Chan and Sukumaran were convicted to death penalty in February 2006 for involving in plot to smuggle over eight kg of heroin to Australia from Bali in 2005. Endi
