Xinhua, February 13, 2015 Adjust font size:

A Spring Festival show titled "Happy Chinese New Year" was held here on Thursday evening in the National Palace of Culture, bringing good mood to hundreds of spectators.

A dance of two lions and performances by students from three schools studying Chinese language were part of the nearly two-hour program jointly organized by the Chinese Embassy in Bulgaria and Confucius Institute in Sofia.

In addition, the Zhangjiajie Ensemble from Chinese Hunan Province, which on Saturday and Sunday will give two concerts in the Black Sea city of Varna, presented a dozen of breathtaking dances and acrobatic performances.

"The Spring Festival or Chinese New Year is the most important traditional Chinese holiday," Chinese Ambassador to Bulgaria Wei Jinghua said, addressing the event.

He believed that during the New Year, the relations between China and Bulgaria would develop faster and better, and the friendship between the two nations would deepen and enrich, Wei said.

Just after the event, Yanaki Stoilov, Vice-President of the National Assembly, told Xinhua the show was really great, and the acrobats and folk performances were at the highest world level.

This was a good start to the Chinese New Year, and he hoped it would be healthy, peaceful and successful, Stoilov said.

Another spectator, Bozana Antonova, whose son participated in the show, told Xinhua: "Great, unique, colorful performances; smiling people; I am very pleased." Endit
