Two British health care workers discharged after Ebola monitoring

Xinhua, February 13, 2015 Adjust font size:

Two British military health care workers were discharged from hospital here after being held for observation for Ebola contagion, Public Health England (PHE) confirmed Thursday.

PHE said on Thursday, the two military health care workers who were transported back to Britain on January 31 and February 2 were discharged from the Royal Free Hospital after being found asymptomatic.

"The individuals will receive ongoing monitoring and support while residing in appropriate private accommodation close to the Royal Free," said Paul Cosford, PHE's health protection and medical director, adding that the public risk of Ebola exposure was still very low.

So far, the names of the two health care workers haven't been released.

According to previous reports, both of the health care workers were exposed to the Ebola virus in Sierra Leone via needle-stick injuries while treating patients diagnosed with Ebola. Endit
