EU restate support two-state solution on Palestinian-Israeli conflict

The European Union (EU) on Wednesday restated its support for a two-state solution on the decade-long Palestinian-Israeli conflict after talks with visiting Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas.

The EU called on direct negotiations between the two sides in an official statement and said the EU is willing to play an "active role" in the resumption of negotiations on the Middle East Peace Process "as soon as possible".

The EU also called on Israel to resume the transfer of Palestinian Authority revenues address the critical financial situation.

"The EU stands by the Palestinian people and the Palestinian Authority as the cornerstone of a future Palestinian state and a key party to the Middle East Peace Process," the statement added. Endit
