Seoul shares ended higher on Wednesday.
The benchmark Korea Composite Stock Price Index (KOSPI) rose 9. 84 points, or 0.51 percent, to 1,945.70 at the close. Trading volume stood at 300.35 million shares worth 4.16 trillion won (3. 79 billion U.S. dollars).

SYDNEY -- The Australian share market closed weaker for a third day straight on Wednesday as resources stocks drove the market lower.
At the official market close, the benchmark S&P/ASX200 index slipped 31.5 points, or 0.54 percent, to 5,769.1 points, while the broader All Ordinaries index lost 25.7 points, or 0.45 percent, to 5,731.7 points.

TAIPEI -- Taiwan's share prices closed higher Wednesday with the weighted index up 68.52 points, or 0.72 percent, to close at 9, 462.22, according to news reaching here from Taipei.
Turnover totaled 96.55 billion new Taiwan dollars (about 3.07 billion U.S. dollars).

MANILA -- Philippine shares closed 0.34 percent lower on Wednesday. The benchmark Philippine Stock Exchange index decreased by 25.96 points to 7697.18. The all-share index went down by 14.77 points, or 0.33 percent, to 4470.77.

HO CHI MINH CITY -- VN-Index, the stock market index of Ho Chi Minh (HCM) City bourse in south Vietnam, closed at 581.76 points on Wednesday, up 7.24 points, or 1.26 percent, against the previous trading day's closing session.
About 77.500 million shares worth 1.301 trillion Vietnamese dong (VND) (60.64 million U.S. dollars) changed hands at the southern HCM City Stock Exchange. Prices of 182 stocks went up, 50 stocks fell down, while 49 stocks remained unchanged.
