9 killed, dozens wounded as rockets hit eastern Ukrainian town

Xinhua, February 10, 2015 Adjust font size:

At least nine people were killed and 25 others wounded when a rocket attack rocked Ukraine's military headquarters in the residential area of a government-controlled eastern town on Tuesday, authorities said.

Two Ukrainian soldiers were killed and nine others wounded during the attack in Kramatorsk, said Yury Biryukov, an aide to President Petro Poroshenko.

Meanwhile, the press service of Donetsk regional administration said the rocket strikes left at least seven civilians dead and 16 others injured.

According to the press service of the Defence Ministry's General Staff, the rockets were fired from a Smerch multiple launch system against Kramatorsk from the direction of the rebel-held Gorlovka town.

Kramatorsk, an industrial town in Donetsk region, has been under control of Ukrainian government forces since June 2014. Endi
