French industrial production up 1.5 pct in Dec. 2014

Xinhua, February 10, 2015 Adjust font size:

Industrial output in France gained ground in December last year as refined petroleum products and transport industry drove up the country's overall production by 1.5 percent from a month earlier, official data showed on Tuesday.

The national statistics bureau Insee added that manufacturing activities also grew 1.2 percent over the period.

France, one of the world's leading exporters of manufactured goods, saw production of coke and refined petroleum products increasing by 3.4 percent "largely due to the restarting of refinery after several months of maintenance," according to Insee.

Output of transport business rose by 2.9 percent thanks to the 4.7 percent jump in air and spacecraft machinery and railway rolling stock.

A 3.6 percent rise was reported in textile and leather while electrical and electronic equipment production also registered a 1.2 percent growth. Enditem
