Australian man stabbed to death in Brisbane street

Xinhua, February 10, 2015 Adjust font size:

An Australia man aged in his 20s was stabbed to death on a quiet street in a Brisbane suburb on Tuesday morning.

Police said they were called to a disturbance after 4 a.m. in Golden Street, in Logan Central, where neighbors heard shouting and they found the man injured in the street. He died a short time later.

The offender fled the scene and a police search is underway involving the police helicopter and the dog squad.

A neighbor, who gave his name only as Peter, told the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) he heard the disturbance in the early hours of the morning.

"I heard fighting, a woman screaming, a person was lying on the ground and then two cars took off," he said.

Another neighbor, who has lived on the street for 30 years, said she heard screams.

"There was screaming and fighting over there and I heard noises, so I peeked out the window and saw a man fighting and two cars," she said.

"There was a man staggering around on the street and a lady was screaming too."

"I heard the lady say he's still alive, and they were helping him while he was lying on the ground." Endite
