Seoul shares ended lower on Monday.

The benchmark Korea Composite Stock Price Index (KOSPI) fell 8. 52 points, or 0.44 percent, to 1,947.00 at the close. Trading volume stood at 306.83 million shares worth 4.29 trillion won (3.9 billion U.S. dollars).

TOKYO -- Tokyo stocks rose 0.36 percent on Monday as market sentiment was lifted by data showing a robust U.S. labor market, but gains were limited due to worries over Greece's fiscal future.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average was up 63.43 points, from Friday at 17,711.93.

The turnover was 2,175.2 billion yen (about 18.31 billion U.S. dollars).

BEIJING -- Chinese stocks closed higher on Monday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index up 0.62 percent to end at 3,095. 12 points.

The Shenzhen Component Index gained 0.71 percent to end at 10, 868.14 points.

SYDNEY -- The Australian share market's record broke on Monday with profit takers cashing in on recent gains in mining, financial, supermarket and mining stocks.

The market opened lower after a 12 day record upswing on opening, and by the Monday's close had not re-gathered momentum.

At the official market close, the benchmark S&P/ASX200 index was down 5.3 points, or 0.09 percent, at 5,814.9, while the broader All Ordinaries index was 4.6 points, or 0.08 percent lower.

VIENTIANE -- The Lao stock market finished down 1.26 percent on Monday against the previous trading day.

The Lao Securities Exchange composite index decreased by 17.58 points to 1,394.74. A total of 12,858 shares worth about 65 million Lao kip (about 8,000 U.S. dollars) changed hands at the stock market.

TAIPEI -- Taiwan's share prices closed lower on Monday with the weighted index down 34.68 points, or 0.36 percent, to close at 9, 421.5, according to news reaching here from Taipei.

HANOI -- Stock market index of Vietnam's capital Hanoi, HNX- Index, closed at 83.33 points on Monday, down 0.54 points, or 0.65 percent, against the previous closing session.

A total of 40.674 million shares worth 456.349 billion Vietnamese dong (21.37 million U.S. dollars) were traded at the Hanoi Stock Exchange on Monday, an increase of 30.4 percent in volume and 7.22 percent in value against the previous closing session.

HO CHI MINH CITY -- VN-Index, the stock market index of Ho Chi Minh (HCM) City bourse in southern Vietnam, closed at 573.55 points on Monday, down 0.58 points, or 0.1 percent, against last Friday's closing session.

About 71.316 million shares worth 1.232 trillion Vietnamese dong (VND) (57.45 million U.S. dollars) changed hands at the southern HCM City Stock Exchange. Prices of 79 stocks went up, 132 stocks fell down, while 71 stocks remained unchanged.
