Tokyo stocks open higher on weaker yen, strong U.S. jobs data

Tokyo stocks opened modestly higher on Monday as market sentiment was lifted by robust U.S. jobs data and a weaker yen.
At 9:15 a.m., the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average was up 130.18 points, or 0.74 percent, from Friday to 17,778.68.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange gained 11.48 points, or 0.81 percent, at 1, 428.67.
Major gainers included insurance, real estate and brokerage issues. Endi
