Xinhua, February 7, 2015 Adjust font size:

A government employee from east China's Fujian Province was detained after allegedly raping a girl, local authorities said.

The police detained the employee after a whistleblower revealed to people.cn that he seduced a 13-year-old middle school student, according to the publicity department of Zhenghe County.

Xu Jie, a police officer from the county, confirmed that they are investigating the case.

According to media reports, the girl was pregnant and gave birth to a baby in the county's hospital. Xu said the investigation is under way and declined to disclose more details.

The government has been quick in responding to crime clues disclosed by netizens as teams have been set up in many departments to monitor information on the internet. Endi
