Hou Yifan crowned Best Woman in 2015 Tradewise Gibraltar Masters

Chinese world chess champion Hou Yifan became the Best Woman in the 2015 Tradewise Gibraltar Masters, according to officials on Friday.

American Grandmaster Hikaru Nakamura won the event with 8.5 points which concluded after 10 rounds at Caleta Hotel, Gibraltar. British Grandmaster David Howell ended runner-up.

Hou Yifan was the clear winner of the women's first prize of 15,000 pounds, additional to her prize for sharing third place.

Earlier before in the second round, Hou broke the ice by topping the women's world ranking, ahead of the retired Judit Polgar, who had dominated the women's rankings for 25 years.

Hou's 15-year-old compatriot Wei Yi also stamped his mark in world chess history as the youngest player ever to surpass the 2,700 rating threshold. The previous record was held by Norwegian prodigy Magnus Carlsen. Endi
