Stuttgart signs FC Basel's Geoffroy Serey Die

Ivorian international Geoffroy Serey Die joins Stuttgart from FC Basel until June 2017, the "VfB" confirmed in an official statement on Monday.

Sereso Geoffroy Gonyaroua Die, known as Serey Die, joined German Bundesliga side Stuttgart with immediate effect. The Ivorian midfielder, who plays currently at the African Cup, put pen to paper on a deal until June 2017.

"We appreciate the commitment of Serey Die. He is an internationally experienced player who will quickly find his way in a new environment to give our game more stability. With him, we have found an experience player who will be an example for our young players," Stuttgart chairman Robin Dutt said.

The 30-year-old midfielder played the last two years with Swiss champions FC Basel where he scored three goals in 68 official matches. The Ivorian is since 2013 part of Ivory Coast national team to make 18 caps.

Stuttgart and Basel agreed to keep silence over further contract details. Serey received the jersey number 26 at his new side.

Stuttgart occupy the penultimate position of the Bundesliga standings. They face newly promoted Cologne at the 19th round on Wednesday. Endite
