U.S., partners continue airstrikes against IS in Syria, Iraq

U.S. and partner-nation military forces have conducted a total of 33 airstrikes against Islamic State (IS) forces in Syria and Iraq over the past two days, the U. S. Defense Department said Sunday.

According to a statement from the Department of Defence, seven airstrikes were conducted near Kobani and Ar Raqqah in Syria, destroying an IS staging area, five IS tactical units and five IS fighting positions.

Meanwhile, international military forces conducted 26 airstrikes near Al Asad, Kirkuk, Hit, Al Qaim, Mahkmur, Sinjar and Tal Afar in Iraq, destroying four large IS units, 15 IS tactical units, nine IS fighting positions, two IS staging positions, eight IS vehicles, three IS buildings, an IS tank and an IS shipping container.

Coalition countries conducting airstrikes in Iraq include the U. S., Australia, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, France, the Netherlands and the United Kingdom. Those conducting airstrikes in Syria include the U.S., Bahrain, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates. Endite
