Xinhua, February 1, 2015 Adjust font size:

The ruling Cambodian People's Party (CPP) has added 306 new members to its central committee during a three-day congress, which ended on Sunday.

"The congress decided to include 306 new members to the party's central committee, bringing the total number to 545," CPP's spokesman and information minister Khieu Kanharith told a press conference on Sunday.

He said among the members, 45 or 10 percent are female and 70 or 23 percent are youths with their age below 50 years old.

CPP's permanent member and deputy prime minister Tea Banh said the inclusion of the new members is to further strengthen the party, in a bid to ensure victory in future elections. Endi
