Delegates of Ukraine's conflicting parties have arrived here for peace talks of the Trilateral Contact Group on the Ukraine crisis, local media reported Saturday.

Former Ukrainian President Leonid Kuchma was appointed by Petro Poroshenko, the Ukrainian leader, as his official representative.

Denis Pushilin and Vladislav Deinego will attend the negotiations on behalf of the two self-claimed republics, the Donetsk People's Republic and the Lugansk People's Republic, respectively.

Mikhail Zurabov, Russian Ambassador to Ukraine, and Heidi Tagliavini, special delegate of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe, arrived in Minsk earlier on Saturday.

The participants are expected to start the meeting in 40 minutes, a source with the Belarusian Foreign Ministry told Interfax news agency.

The meeting will be held at the Diplomatic Service Hall in central Minsk, and it will be closed to the press, the source said. Endi
