Man killed on Scorsese's "Silence" movie set in Taiwan

Xinhua, January 29, 2015 Adjust font size:

A construction worker died and two others were injured while preparing to film Martin Scorsese's new movie "Silence" in Taipei on Thursday.

The scaffolding collapsed on the movie set at the Chinese Culture and Movie Center while the workers reinforced the building, according to Taipei City Fire Department.

The film crew expressed their "shock and sorrow" about the tragedy in a statement.

Scorsese is very sad about what happened but said production of the film will not be halted, according to a Taiwan staff working with the shooting crew.

"Silence" is the first major Hollywood production to be shot in Taiwan since Luc Besson's action thriller "Lucy," part of which was filmed in Taipei in 2013. Endi
