A freighter carrying the third Kilo- class diesel-electric submarine made by Russia has arrived at Cam Ranh gulf in Vietnam's south central coastal Khanh Hoa province, local media reported Thursday.

An online newspaper of Vietnamese people's army said that after a voyage of one and a half month from Russia's Saint Petersburg, the freighter, Rolldock Sea, will dock at Cam Ranh gulf for several days while waiting to release the submarine to the sea.

The submarine is 73.8 meters in length with displacement of 3, 000-3,950 tons. It is able to operate at a maximum depth of 300 meters and at a speed of 20 nautical miles per hour with 52 crew members on board, reported the newspaper.

The submarine is among the six of its kind that Vietnam ordered from Russia. Earlier at a ceremony to receive the two submarines in 2014, named HQ-182 Hanoi and HQ-183 Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung said it marked a new development of Vietnamese navy and army. Endi
