Slovakia gets ready military reserves for possible deployment in Bosnia

Slovakia is ready to mobilize its military reserves for the EUFOR ALTHEA operation in Bosnia and Herzegovina this year, the Slovak government said on Wednesday.

A total of 125 professional soldiers will be in combat readiness as a mechanized company until the end of 2015.

Slovakia had instantly available reserves for EUFOR ALTHEA in 2013 and 2014. The security situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina meant that the troops weren't required, however.

Slovakia's armed forces have been engaged in the EUFOR ALTHEA operation since its launch in 2004.

Currently, there are 36 Slovak soldiers serving in the mission, one of whom working at NATO military headquarters in Sarajevo. Endit
