Property sales increase by 14 pct across Britain in 2014

Xinhua, January 28, 2015 Adjust font size:

Property sales across Britain increased by 14 percent in 2014 to 1,226,460, the highest number since 2007, said British HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) Wednesday.

Figures show that sales rose in every region in Britain last year, said HMRC.

December 2014 saw 100,220 residential and 9,890 non-residential transaction in Britain, which was slightly lower than those in November, figures showed.

In recent months, the trend in seasonally adjusted transactions has been relatively stable, although October 2014 saw a peak for recent non-seasonally-adjusted transactions, said HMRC.

Surveyors here in London expect a cooling down in Britain's property transaction in short-term period.

Earlier this month, the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (Rics) said that the number of new properties being listed for sale by its members had dropped 10 out of the last 12 months.

And according to the monthly data released by the Bank of England, mortgage approvals in Britain have been falling slowly since June 2014. Endit
