PLA vows improved discipline in wake of Xu Caihou case

Xinhua, January 27, 2015 Adjust font size:

A senior officer of the People's Liberation Army (PLA) has vowed to eliminate the negative influence of the corruption case of former senior commander Xu Caihou, the PLA Daily reported Tuesday.

Zhang Yang, head of the General Political Department of the PLA, pledged to ramp up discipline in the military and keep a heavy-handed crackdown on corruption at a PLA political and legal conference held on Monday.

Zhang said PLA officers in political and legal work need to provide firm legal support to the PLA in building a stronger military.

Xu was found to have taken advantage of his position to assist the promotion of others. He also accepted bribes personally and through his family and sought profits for others in exchange for bribes. Endite
