5 killed, 2 injured in landmine blast in SW Pakistan

Xinhua, January 26, 2015 Adjust font size:

At least five people had been killed and two others injured on Monday evening in a landmine blast in Pakistan's southwest province of Balochistan, local media reported.

According to the reports, the incident took place when a passenger van hit a landmine in the Chattar area of southwest district of Nasirabad, killing three people on the spot and injuring four others.

Local residents of the area shifted the bodies and injured to the hospital where two of the injured succumbed to their injuries, raising the death toll to five.

According to the reports, the victims were locals who were coming back to their village after shopping in the city.

Police and security forces rushed to the site and blocked all roads leading to the area, fearing that there might be some more landmines planted in the area.

Security forces launched a search operation with landmine detector devices to clear the area.

No group has claimed responsibility for the attack yet. Endi
