1st LD Writethru: Blast wounds 5 in Afghanistan's Jalalabad

Five civilians were wounded when a bomb went off in Afghanistan's eastern city of Jalalabad on Monday, a spokesman for the provincial government said.

"A blast happened inside a hotel in Jalalabad city at around 1: 00 p.m. local time, leaving five persons, all civilians, injured," Ahmad Zia Abdulzai told reporters in the capital of Nangarhar province, 120 km east of Kabul.

He also said an investigation has been launched into the incident.

Meantime, Zabihullah Mujahid, who claimed to speak for the Taliban in contact with media outlets, said an explosion against a police vehicle in Behsoud district of Nangarhar province had left two police dead and injured five others on Monday. Endi
