Cambodia, China ink cooperation deal on telecom, ICT

Xinhua, January 26, 2015 Adjust font size:

Cambodia and China on Monday signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on the cooperation in telecommunication and information and communication technology ( ICT).

The MoU was inked between Prak Sokhonn, Cambodian minister of post and telecommunications, and Shang Bing, vice minister of China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, in Phnom Penh, the capital of Cambodia.

Under the deal, both sides will exchange information, experience and expertise in the development of telecommunications and ICT.

Cambodia currently has two fixed phone operators, six mobile phone operators, and around 27 internet service providers.

To date, the mobile phone operators have sold about 20 million SIM cards, exceeding the country's population of 14.8 million, according to government statistics. Meanwhile, over 3 million people have access to the Internet. Endi
