U.S. dollar gains more ground on Albanian lek

Xinhua, January 26, 2015 Adjust font size:

The U.S. dollar rose to a 12-year-high of over 124 leks, the currency of Albania, according to the official exchange rate of the Bank of Albania.

The exchange rates of leks to euros now remain stable in Albania, but the euro itself has been devaluated, reaching its 11-year low of less than 1.15 dollars in January.

One euro is sold at around 140 leks.

The depreciation of the euro, according to experts, is worsened by the European Central Bank's newly-launched 1.1 trillion euros quantitative easing project as a controversial attempt to stimulate the faltered economy of the European Union. Endi
