Zambia ruling Patriotic Front (PF) won in the country's highly contested presidential election, the Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) announced on Saturday.
PF presidential candidate Edgar Lungu has garnered 48.33 percent of the total votes cast while his closest rival Hakainde Hichilema of the United Party for National Development (UPND) garnered 46.67 percent of all votes, according to ECZ's official results. (Zambia-Presidential Election)

WASHINGTON -- Fighter jets escorted two U.S. domestic airliners to land Saturday at the Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport after receiving "credible" threats of bombs on board, local media reported.
The affected airliners were the Delta flight 1156 from Portland, Oregon and the Southwest flight 2492 from Milwaukee, Wisconsin, reported the WSB-TV Channel 2 in Atlanta, Georgia. (U.S.-Bomb Threat)

KIEV -- The Ukrainian port city of Mariupol came under heavy fire from territories controlled by the militia forces, international monitors said on Saturday.
"The Grad rockets originated from a north-easterly direction, in the area of Oktyabr, and the Uragan rockets from an easterly direction, in the area of Zaichenko, both controlled by the ' Donetsk People's Republic'," the Special Monitoring Mission to Ukraine of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe said. TEHRAN -- Iran's Majlis (parliament) has devised retaliatory plans in case that the United States imposes fresh sanctions on the country over its nuclear program, the Majlis Speaker Ali Larijani said here on Saturday.
The lawmakers have "seriously considered scenarios" to make the United States regretful if the U.S. Congress decides to slap new sanctions on Iran, Larijani was quoted as saying by Tasnim news agency. (Iran-Nuke-Sanctions)

TOKYO -- A video released late Saturday suggested that a Japanese hostage Haruna Yukawa held by the Islamic State (IS) militants, was killed, according to local report.
