Indian PM condoles death of Saudi King Abdullah

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday said he was "saddened" by the passing away of King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia who has left a lasting impact on his country.

"A few days ago I spoke to Crown Prince Salman and enquired about King Abdullah's health. News of King Abdullah's passing away is saddening," the prime minister tweeted.

"In King Abdullah, we have lost an important voice who left a lasting impact on his country," said Modi.

King Abdullah, born in 1924, was hospitalized in December for pneumonia and had been breathing with aid. He died at 1 a.m. Friday (2200 GMT Thursday). Endi
