61 fuel stations fined for fraud with quality in Albania

A number of 61 gas stations have been fined by the technical inspectorate after they started selling bad quality oil to consumers while some of them didn't have the respective technical-legal documentation, Albanian Daily News reported on Thursday.
Albania central technical institution published on Thursday the list of these subjects and the fines that start from 2 million Lek (16,529 U.S. dollar) for those who defraud consumers, and 100,000 Lek for those who don't have the respective documentation.
Only for November, Albania central technical institution fined 43 companies, 12 of which due to problems with the flashing point and the sulfur percentage. In 31 other cases, the central technical institution found a lack of technical-legal documentation.
During December, after some inspections carried out by the oil and gas inspections directory, 18 gas stations were fined. Seven of these cases had problems with the flashing point and the sulfur percentage, while in 11 other cases there has been a lack in the documentation.
On the other hand, the competition authority might very soon take a final decision about an investigation started months ago, in May of 2014, for suspicions on violation of fair competition. The deadline was three months and it is now over.
It is learned that the experts of this institution have prepared the respective report, and now it is up to the authority to give its opinion. (1 U.S. dollar = 122 Lek) Endit
