Tokyo shares end down by break ahead of ECB meeting

Tokyo shares ended the morning session slightly lower on Thursday as investors are waiting for a possible monetary easing decision by the European Central Bank later.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average slightly fell 17.78 points, or 0.10 percent, from Wednesday to 17,262.70.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange was down 6.5 points, or 0.47 percent, at 1, 384.11.

Decliners were led by rubber, banking and service issues. Endi
