Algeria urges Yemeni disputing parties to resort to dialogue

Algeria on Wednesday urged the disputing parties in Yemen to resort to dialogue to preserve peace in the troubling nation.

"Algeria follows up with great interest the developments of the situation in the brotherly Yemen in the past few days, following escalation between some political parties which provoked armed clashes threatening security and stability, and undermining the ongoing the political process in this brotherly nation," the official APS news agency quoted a statement of the Foreign Ministry as saying.

The statement urges "all disputing parties to resort to wisdom and dialogue as well as working on safeguarding the achievements of the National Dialogue Conference in terms of the peace agreement and national partnership, ahead of completing the transitional era."

Tensions mounted in Yemen's capital of Sanaa on Wednesday as the Houthi group took over the presidential palace in southern Sanaa Tuesday after clashed with presidential guards that left nine people killed and 79 others injured. Endit
