Tokyo shares end lower on policies of BOJ, ECB

Tokyo shares ended lower Wednesday on the Bank of Japan's move to cut its inflation outlook for the fiscal 2015 due to plunged oil price, as well as the European Central Bank prepares to vote on further easing measures.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average edged down 85.82 points, or 0.49 percent, from Tuesday at 17,280.48.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange was down 7.02 points, or 0.50 percent, at 1, 390.61.

Decliners were led by insurance, utilities and machinery.

The turnover was about 2,302.9 billion yen (about 19.54 billion U.S. dollars). Endi
