Canada to give Iraq non-lethal gear to fight IS

Xinhua, January 21, 2015 Adjust font size:

Canada will donate non-lethal military equipment to Iraq fight the Islamic State (IS) militants, Defense Minister Rob Nicholson said Tuesday.

The donation package will include 6,000 items, comprising 1,000 coats, fleece shirts and pants for winter, as well as 1,000 jackets and pants for wet weather.

The announcement was made before the minister departs Thursday to attend a meeting held in London, where 23 delegations from various countries and organizations will discuss the efforts made by the U.S.-led military coalition forces to combat the IS.

Canada has supplied more than 100 million U.S. dollars in humanitarian, stabilization and security program for Iraq since January 2014. Endi
