2nd LD Writethru: Eurostar briefly suspends services again due to fire

Xinhua, January 19, 2015 Adjust font size:

Part of Eurostar services were stopped for a short time on Monday due to fire after a weekend of disruptions, according to Eurostar Monday.

The blaze was close to the tracks in a Paris suburb, a press officer from Eurostar told Xinhua Monday, it would be solved in a couple of minutes.

Reports said the blaze stopped all trains travelling to Paris. But services resumed soon after the fire was under control and passengers were allowed to board services for London.

Eurostar services were suspended Saturday as smoke detection in the Channel Tunnel caused chaos for passengers.

Before the blaze outside Paris, Eurostar said it planned to run a "full service" on Monday. Eurostar also warned trains could be delayed by up to 30 minutes.

Thousands of passengers were affected when the tunnel was closed on Saturday. Endit
