Albanians risk losing houses for unpaid electric bills

Xinhua, January 19, 2015 Adjust font size:

Albanian households with over 100,000 lek (833 U.S. dollars) of unpaid electric bills might face the risk of losing their houses, Albanian Daily News reported Monday.

The penalizing measure, included in a new law drafted by the Energy Ministry, is expected to be passed in Albanian Parliament this week.

Currently households or businesses which fail to pay face energy cuts. Those who steal electricity will face imprisonment of three to five years. Endi
