About 200 Tajik citizens fighting in Syria, Iraq: interior minister

Tajikistan' s law enforcement authorities instituted criminal proceedings against 53 Tajik nationals last year for participation in foreign armed conflicts.

Tajik Interior Minister Ramazon Rahimzoda said here on Friday that 12 of them were fighting in Syria and Iraq.

The minister also said about 200 Tajik nationals are fighting in Syria and Iraq, adding that the government has asked their relatives to help the return of these Tajik militants.

He stressed that all Tajik nationals participating in foreign armed conflicts will be amnestied if they return to Tajikistan. Endi
