Albanian customs, tax officials' wealth to undergo first scrutiny after 10 years

Xinhua, January 17, 2015 Adjust font size:

Albanian head of the high inspectorate of declaration and audit of assets (HIDAA), Shkelqim Ganaj, warned on Friday for detailed inspections in all customs and tax offices, two structures that according to him have not been inspected for years, Albanian Daily News reported.

"Former and current officials will be part of the inspection. It is a duty, a norm. No one will be excluded, especially for the fact that the last inspection was done 10 years ago," Ganaj declared.

The general directory of customs and the HIDAA, in cooperation with "Crown Agents", signed an agreement that allows the inspectorate to go deeper with the inspection, in order to verify any case of corruption.

"With the purpose to take disciplinary measures towards the customs personnel, the inspectorate intended to put forward administrative measures," declared the general director of customs, Erisa Spiropali. Endit
