Israel reiterates providing technical aid to Myanmar's agricultural sector

Israel has reiterated the willing to provide technical assistance and invest in Myanmar's agricultural sector, an official said here Friday.

Meeting with Myanmar Vice President U Nyan Tun in Nay Pyi Taw, visiting Israeli Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Yair Shair pledged to help Myanmar utilize water resources, export value-added fruits to international market and carry out tasks in rural development.

Myanmar and Israel have been cooperating in agricultural development in terms of production of qualified agricultural produce.

Israeli experts have made frequent visits to Myanmar and conducted agricultural research in the country in order to work out plans to establish model farmland in the country's arid zone with Israeli technology in water management.

For the past several years, Myanmar has dispatched scholars to Israel to pursue studies in agricultural course under an agreement between the two countries.

The bilateral cooperation program has been funded by Israel since 1994. Endi
