UN chief starts visit to Honduras, El Salvador

UN Secretary-General Ban Ki- moon on Wednesday arrived in Tegucigalpa, Honduras, for a two-day visit to the Latin American country, Farhan Haq, the deputy UN spokesman, told reporters here.

During his stay in Honduras, Ban is scheduled to meet with President Juan Orlando Hernandez-Alvarado and other government officials, and will address the National Congress of Honduras, said Haq at a daily news briefing here.

On Thursday, the secretary-general will travel to El Salvador to attend the 23rd Anniversary of the signing of the Peace Agreements that put an end to 12 years of armed conflict in the country.

The secretary-general will return to New York in the evening of Saturday. Endite
