French CPI slightly increases in Dec.

Xinhua, January 14, 2015 Adjust font size:

French consumer prices index (CPI) registered a month-on-month rise of 0.1 percent in December following a November decline of 0.2 percent, national statistics bureau Insee said on Wednesday.

"In December, the seasonal price increase of some services were largely offset by a new drop in energy prices, especially from petroleum products and, to a lesser extent, by a slight reduction in food product prices," the agency noted in a monthly economic report.

Costs of services rose by 0.6 percent thanks to "seasonal increase in services related to tourism," while prices of manufacture goods rose slightly by 0.1 percent, helped by seasonal growth in clothing and footwear prices, it added.

Energy costs dropped by 2.6 percent and those of food products went down by 0.1 percent.

French officials have set a target inflation rate of 0.9 percent for the whole year of 2015. Endit
