Indian PM, U.S. secretary of state pay tributes to victims of Paris attacks

Xinhua, January 11, 2015 Adjust font size:

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and visiting U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry Sunday paid tributes to the victims of the recent spree of terrorist attacks in Paris.

During an international economic forum held in Gujarat, western India, Modi said all the countries in the world had to show that they were determined to fight terror in all forms.

Kerry said the world had to take a pledge that no act of terror would make it give up freedom. "We stand in tribute with the people of France, not just in anger but for the cause of freedom," Kerry said.

The attacks killed 17 people when terrorists targeted the office of satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo, a policewoman and a Jewish supermarket in Paris from Wednesday to Friday in the French capital.

France was holding a nationwide rally Sunday to protest terrorism and commemorate the victims in the attacks, perpetrated by three attackers who were killed by French security forces on Friday. Endi
