Dortmund Sven Bender ruled out for four weeks

Xinhua, January 10, 2015 Adjust font size:

Dortmund's midfielder Sven Bender will be sidelined with a knee injury for four weeks, the "BVB" confirmed in an official statement on Saturday.

Sven Bender will miss the training camp in Spain and the Bundesliga start into second half of the season after twisting his knee on Wednesday.

The 25-year-old defensive midfielder successfully underwent a surgery on Friday, and will be out of action for four weeks, according to Dortmund's club doctor Markus Braun.

Dortmund will depart on Saturday to prepare in La Manga, Spain, for the upcoming second half of the campaign. It is a very much needed break for Juergen Klopp and his men as they suffered 10 defeats in 17 games to slump on the penultimate position, 17th place, in the Bundesliga standings. They are equal on points with last placed Freiburg with only 15 points.

The "BVB" encounter Werder Bremen for the relegation battle after the winter break. Endi
