Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi kicked off campaign of the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Saturday for legislative elections in the Indian capita, by calling the anti-graft Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) "masters of lies."
"Some politician says he is 'anarchist', such people should go to jungle and join Naxals (extreme leftwing rebels)," Modi said in a veiled attack on AAP President Arvind Kejriwal.
The local elections in New Delhi are expected to be held in coming months after the city has been put under presidential rule for over half a year in the wake of a brief AAP government.
The BJP is poised to win the elections in the capital, after winning a series of local elections, including in the financial capital of Mumbai, following its sweeping victory in the general election last May, said analysts.
The AAP remains the only threat for the BJP in the capital polls, as the Congress's influence is on the wane across the country after its defeat last year. Endi
