Malaysia's industrial output increases

Underpinned by strong growth in mining and manufacturing, Malaysia's industrial output rose 4. 7 percent in November from a year ago, according to official statistics available here Friday.

Malaysia's Statistics Department said the increase in November 2014 was due to the positive growth in all indices: manufacturing (3.7 percent), mining (7.6 percent) and electricity (3.2 percent). "During the period from January to November 2014, Malaysia's IPI expanded 4.9 percent compared with the same period in the previous year. The expansion was contributed by the increase in the sectors of manufacturing, mining and electricity," it said.

The sub-sectors which contributed to the increase in November 2014 were: electrical and electronics products (10.2 percent); petroleum, chemical, rubber and plastic products (1.8 percent ) and non-metallic mineral products, basic metal and fabricated metal products (2.7 percnet), according to the Statistics Department.
