Australian dollar rises above 81 U.S. cents

The Australian dollar rose above 81 U.S. cents on Friday following reports of lower oil prices.

On Friday morning the local currency was trading at 81.10 U.S. cents, down slightly from 81.12 cents on Thursday.

Following the release of new data that showed approvals for the construction of new homes had risen 7.5 percent in November, the local currency jumped past 81 U.S. cents yesterday. Endi
