German benchmark DAX index jumps 3.36 pct Thursday

The benchmark DAX index at the Frankfurt Stock Exchange on Thursday climbed by 3.36 percent and closed at 9,837.61 points.

With the expectation that the European Central Bank may further ease its monetary policy given that the deflation threat in the Euro zone is lingering, investors at the stock exchange presented a buying mood, according to analysts.

Bayer AG rose significantly by 5.43 percent. Deutsche Telekom AG advanced by 4.93 percent. Fresenius Medical Care AG & Co. added 4.44 percent. Daimler AG climbed by 4.38 percent and BASF SE went up by 4.08 percent.

Deutsche Lufthansa AG is the only one among the 30 DAX member shares that has suffered a loss. It slipped by 0.98 percent.

The turnover stood at 4.23 billion euros (around 5.01 billion U.S. dollars). Bayer AG was the most traded share of the day with a turnover of 351.62 million euros (around 416.84 million U.S. dollars). Endit
